Kolbenschmidt

Kolbenschmidt, as the name suggests, was founded as a piston producer by engineer Karl Schmidt, the son of NSU founder Christian Schmidt. In 1920, production started in Neckarsulm for the automotive industry. Among other things, Kolbenschmidt developed new production technologies such as the salt core technique for pouring cavities in aluminum pistons. The company's product range also includes large-displacement pistons for marine engines and stationary applications. With the tightening of the emission limit values, especially lighter and lower friction pistons were developed.
